2024 Ashadha Gupt Navratri
2024 Ashadha Gupt Navratri - Ashadha Gupt Navratri also popular as Gayatri Navratri is observed in the month of Ashadha during June or July. Out of the two Gupt Navratri, Magh Navratri is celebrated in the North of India - Uttar Pradesh, Himachal, Haryana, and Punjab. Ashadh Navratri is celebrated only in the South of India. It's said to be one of the most important Hindu festivals that many people devote themselves to and it was called Gupt (meaning hidden) Navratri because very few know about it and it usually spans from April until May.
Though mostly unheard of in the ancient Vedic age, Gupt Navratri was well-known to accomplished sages. The Ashadha Gupt Navratri is special for Tantriks, who believe they can attain their desires with help from it. It's most popular for Tantrik Sadhana (Meditation) and Pujas.
Devi Bhagwad notes that Navratri comes four times per year and the worship of goddesses during Ashadha Gupt Navratri is an especially beneficial time because it is when devotees and seekers worship Kali, Tara Devi, Tripura Sundari, Bhuvaneshwari, Mata Chhinmasta, Tripura Bhairavi, Maa Dhumavati, Maa Baglamukhi, Matangi, Kamala Devi, and other Mahavidya Goddesses. The nine days and nights of Ashadha Gupt Navratri are considered highly powerful and beneficial to Shakti and Tantra Sadhana and accomplishments.
Significance of Ashadha Gupt Navratri
Legends say that when Rishi Shrungi was giving advice to devotees under a Peepal tree, one woman came to him seeking refuge at the feet of Goddess Durga. As per the legend, her husband was indulging in all kinds of immoral activities and she couldn't do any vrat, puja, or rituals because of it. She wanted help from Rishi Shrungi with getting the blessings of Maa Durga. He then told her about two secret navratris and that during Gupt navratri she should worship Maa Durga for a favor. The woman followed his advice and performed penance, which lead to her achieving peace and prosperity. Her husband abandoned his wanton life of immorality and became a responsible family man as well. All this happened due to the blessings he gained from Maa Durga by worshipping during Gupt Navratri.
