Reach Kochi by Rail, Road & Airline

Cochin International Airport caters to both international and domestic flights.
Location: Nedumbassery, 32 km from downtown Ernakulam city and 47 km from Fort Kochi.
Services: Indian, Jet Airways, Air Sahara, Air Deccan, Kingfisher Airlines and Go Air, besides international airlines.
Facilities: Pre-paid taxi, restaurants, duty-free shop [international terminal], tourist information centers, currency exchange, telephone kiosks, hotel reservation counters.

Railways
Three major railway stations
Ernakulam Junction (also known as South Railway Station)
Location: close to downtown Jos Junction, MG Road, Ernakulam
Services: main railway station of the city, most express, Jan Shatabdi, Sampark Kranti and Rajdhani express trains; best connections are Trivandrum Express from Chennai (overnight), 2626 Kerala Express from Delhi (two nights), 2432 Rajdhani Express from Delhi, and 2654 Sampark Kranti Express from Chandigarh/Delhi/2076 Jan Shatabdi Express best between Thiruvanathapuram and Kochi (6.25 am/ 9.50 am).
Transfer: Tourist taxi and pre-paid auto-rickshaw

Ernakulam City (also known as North Railway Station)
Location: North end of MG Road, about 2 km from downtown Jos Junction, Ernakulam
Services: many express trains also halt at this station
Transfer: tourist taxis and pre-paid auto-rickshaw

Cochin Harbour Terminus
Location: Willingdon Island, about 7 km from downtown Jos Junction on MG Road, Ernakulam, close to Trident Hilton Hotel and about on km from Taj Malabar and Casino Hotels.
Services: some express trains.
Transfer: Tourist taxi and auto-rickshaw

Highways
National Highways #17, 47 and 49.

Midways: Along NH#47, between Coimbatore and Ernakulam Palakkad had good resting places beside the road. While southwards to Thiruvanathapuram, there are numerous towns and cities with good resting places Between Kochi and Madurai and NH#49, Teni offers good facilities.

Buses
Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation deluxe coach to Bangalore, Express Transport of Tamil Nadu and Kerala SRTC buses; private coach operators' deluxe coaches to/from Coimbatore, Bangalore, etc.
Bus Station: Ernakulam, close to Junction railway station and downtown Jos Junction; private deluxe coaches from Jos Junction.
Transfer: Tourist taxi and auto-rickshaw.

Local Transport:
Taxis (metered, at stands or cruising) and auto-rickshaw (metered, flag down Rs. 10, at stands or cruising), night charge extra.
Ferry Service: Special feature of Kochi, convenient and fast mode for travel between mainland and islands, connects Ernakulam, Willingdon Island, Fort Kochi, Vypin and Bolgatty Island, among other centres, frequent service and inexpensive. Two major ferry stations in Ernakulam - Sea Lord Jetty on Shanmugam Road and Main Boat Jetty on Foreshore Road.

Conducted Tours
City tours Rs. 350- Rs. 950 depending on the number of people. Out of station tours start at Rs. 1,000 per day. Tour operators are located all over the city that their own packages for sight seeing.
Backwater Tours Village-backwater-canal tours are conducted on country boats Daily two tours - 8.30 am -10 am, 2.30 pm - 7.00 pm; Rs. 350 per person
